First of all, has there been any progress made on the "standard" quake
editing DLL that was brought up earlier on the list? Something like that
would be a "good thing" if people were to get together and work on it.
Just simple things like ReadPakFileEntry or GetWADTexture - stuff that
be common to most editors. With something like this, many editors could
call functions in the same DLL, which would really help future editor
who dont feel like re-inventing the wheel. An extra bonus of this that i
did not see mentioned is that everytime a new upgraded or optimized DLL
out it will automatically benefit any programs which link it.

Im just lurking, and i don't really have alot of time to code quake
(i wish i did!) but i just remember this striking me as a good idea.

Another question has come to mind: How will level editors be able to
MAPs that only work with registered versions of quake and NOT the
I hoped id would have solved that problem for us and just disabled the
of external maps in the shareware version, but i seriously doubt they had
time to put code like that in, <gripe> considering they cant even get the
Soundblaster Pro support to work ;-) </gripe>

Later all...
