See readme.txt, and QuakeEd sources. light is not PVS aware. vis
does not care about lightmaps. To my understanding, it is
perfectly your choice - have a maxbright BSP with PVS for fast
rendering, or a shadowed BSP dead slow w/o PVS. No, it does
not matter ;-).
