Are brushes really the way to go with a new editor? Obviously, if you want
to use id's qbsp et al you have to have brushes in the .map file, but I
think that
the task of creating the brushes is one that could be handled by the editor
as the map is saved.

A much more intuiative interface (for me at least) is one where you control
texture on a per-polygon (and perhaps a per-group of polygons) level. This,
along with a perpendicular-to-polygon viewpoint would lend itself easily to
alinging textures. Also, not having to bother with the brushes would
probably allow faster level design.
