Subject: an attempt at using the new id tools

well, i had a go at using the tools on our ultra sparc here, used
raphaels makefile, applied the endian patch and the compiled succesfully.
i went to the dEngine web site and got johnc99.map, adn added a
"1.000000 1.000000" at the end of each hull definition, since this is
what the new .map format that carmack mentioned in one of his mails seems
to require.

upon running qbsp 'johnc99.map' i get the following output:

Project directory:
outputfile: johnc99.bsp
--- LoadMapFile ---
johnc99.map
6 brushes
4 entities
1 miptex
3 texinfo

Bus error

suggestions? might this be because i don't actually have the textures
in base.wad or is it terminating abruptly due to something else?

a few more questions come to mind:

- what is the correct order for running the tools? qbsp -> light -> vis?

- i placed dm1.bsp in id1/maps and ran it as 'map dm1' from the console
and it worked. i thought add on levels weren't supposed to work with
the shareware?

- textures... how could i legally (assuming i don't redistribute them)
compile a .wad of textures using what's in the .bsp files?

- are there .map versions of tworooms.bsp or first.bsp available? or
other small levels? (other than dm1 (aka test1), johnc99 and jrbase1
(aka e1m1)
