Because RUMPUS is actually two WADs combined, what follows is probably more information than you care to read. The first section is a general overview of the entire WAD, followed by map-specific specs. 03/01/96 ---------- IN GENERAL: ============================================================================= Title : Rumpus Filename : RUMPUS1.ZIP Author : Scott Talkington Email Address : stalking@mail.coin.missouri.edu Misc. Author Info : Likes chunky peanut butter Brief Description : A combination of two WADs, set up for some interesting deathmatch or single player games. (See Long-Ass Description for more). Additional Credits to : Kathy "Monkey Jo" Setzer, playtesting and ego- stroking; Tim "I'm Going To Bed" Boyer, playtesting, offering himself as frag-bait repeatedly. Ben Morris for releasing DCK 2.2 as FREEWARE! Watch for his HexenCK coming soon. ============================================================================= * Play Information * Game : DOOM II Episode and Level # : MAP01, MAP02 Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-4 Player : Not really Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes Difficulty Settings : Not used; play by my rules or go play tiddlywinks. New Sounds : No New Graphics : No New Music : No Demos Replaced : None * Construction * Base : Built from scratch Editor(s) used : DCK 2.2 Build Time : About 50 hours (rough total for both) Known Bugs : See below for itemized list. :) Additional Blather : This WAD was built on a 386/16 with DCK 2.2 (the coolest editor I've found). Single player mode was tested minimally on the PC. Most testing, including network play, was done using Power Macs. For network play, a Power Mac 7500/100 and a Power Mac 8500/110 were used (no PC network testing was done, so there may be hideous glitches I'm unaware of). ====================== INDIVIDUAL LEVEL INFO: ----- MAP01 ============================================================================= Title : Poop Filename : POOP-1.ZIP Author : Scott Talkington Email Address : stalking@mail.coin.missouri.edu Misc. Author Info : Is nutty about lemurs Description : This WAD was made for practice. It's my first so it's not very elaborate. Just gettin' mah feet wet, you might say. It was made for use in a deathmatch, or maybe alt-deathmatch since it's so small. There's a decent number of bad guys to give you something to do when your buddy's hiding out somewhere. The exit is hidden because people I play with often like to make a bee-line for the switch (usually accidentally, but annoying all the same). The exit switch is the only switch in the level, and isn't marked as an exit. Additional Credits to : Kathy "Monkey Jo" Setzer, playtesting and ego- stroking; Tim "I'm Going To Bed" Boyer, playtesting, offering himself as frag-bait repeatedly. * Construction * Base : Built from scratch Editor(s) used : DCK 2.2 Build Time : About 6 hours Known Bugs : None, other than a few minor texture misalignments ----- MAP02 ============================================================================= Title : XFIRE-XX Filename : XFIRE-20.WAD Author : Scott Talkington Email Address : stalking@mail.coin.missouri.edu Other WADS By Author : POOP-1.WAD Misc. Author Info : Has a big white X on the top of his car Brief Description : The name is the "working name" I was using before I decided to merge this map with another one. It refers to the first room, which didn't turn out exactly the way I had originally planned, but is pretty close. This map happens to be the second one I've completed. Additional Credits to : Kathy "Monkey Jo" Setzer, playtesting and ego- stroking; Tim "I'm Going To Bed" Boyer, playtesting, offering himself as frag-bait repeatedly. * Construction * Base : Built from scratch Editor(s) used : DCK 2.2 Build Time : About 40 hours Known Bugs : A few weird things that seem to be related to "sound proof" walls (rocket blasts don't hurt you when you're near one of these walls). A few minor texture things that I got tired of trying to fix. ============================================================================= -------------------- Long-Ass Description : RUMPUS is a WAD made up of two of my own levels, designed primarily for deathmatch (isn't everything?). The first map is a small and fast primer for things to come. Incidentally, it was also my first WAD ever. It was released locally for fellow DOOM-heads before being incorporated into RUMPUS. Based loosely on a concept, RUMPUS was designed to offer some kind of challenge in single player mode, and lots of fun in deathmatch mode. Single player mode makes use of keys and other obstacles. Deathmatch offers several "game rooms" for bloody showdowns; rooms like The Meat Grinder, The Washing Machine, The Stomach, and other interesting places (if I do say so myself) lend themselves well to meeting and fragging. On the other hand, hide and seek is always allowed. :) The exit in this WAD is deliberately difficult. I found my attempt to slow my opponent's quick exit wasn't as effective in POOP-1.WAD as I had hoped it would be, so I increased the number (and size) of the obstacles. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may use this levels as a base to build additional levels.
