8/26/99 Beta5 is Back, Kinda (By MaxSMoke)
Just as I had mentioned on the message forum, the problems in Beta5 were for the most part just a simple over sight. There was a blast model that wasn't were it should have been and that was the cause of ALOT of the problems some of you experianced. For those of you that wish to brave the few remaining problems, Holger has made a patch that will allow you to play most of Beta5 without any problems. I have reestablished the link to the Beta5 package as well as this new patch to fix the "EnvMap" error. For those of you willing to wait it out, we hope to have a fully repaired Beta5 package by Monday morning. Thank you for bearing with us through this, when you ride the cutting edge, sometimes you get a nick or two! ;)

8/26/99 Beta5 Pulled! (By MaxSMoke)
ACK!!!!! There appears to be ALOT of new problems in Beta5 that weren't in ANY of the versions I have EVER seen before! First there was the delays, and then people started bugging us, and all of that lead to a big mistake I see now. It appears that the Devil class can't be used at all, for players or for Bots, and three of the new characters won't work in Single player mode. I had hoped Holger might have tested the mod himself a little before hand since I was not available to do so. Anyways we're removing Beta5 from the server until we can fix these problems and we apologize to those that have downloaded it already. Had we known of all of these problems before, we would have never let the mod out to all of you.

Hopefully we'll have a newer, bug free version done within a day or two. Like Unreal itself, we just released a little too early.

BETA5.5 is Pulled, 5.6 will be out shortly!

Looks like even more problems! My ISP is down and I only have partial access to the internet through a family member's machine. This means I have no E-Mail and I'm not too sure if I can post a file when Holger sends it, so it looks like Beta5 will be tomarrow at the earlyest. There are some fires in the hills around  the valley I live in in California so that's wreaking alot of havoc with networks around here. I'll do my best to get Beta5 up as soon as possible, so bear with me.

I see from the wealth of mail I have received this morning that alot of you are waiting impatiently for Beta5. Well I myself am waiting for the final code package but Holger was unable to send it to me last night so, because of the difference in time, we'll have to wait wait a bit longer for Holger to get another opportunity to upload it. So clean your keyboards, wipe the dust off your monitor, and go take a cold shower! I will post Beta5 the SECOND I receive it! K? ;) 

8/20/99 Small Delay (By MaxSMoke)
It looks like Beta5 won't be out today as we had hoped. Between the 7 new weapons, 5 new player classes, 6 new vehicles, and our new TF-style class system, there just wasn't enough time to get it all done by today. Assuming you don't explode with anticipation, we should have something for you by this coming Wensday. I think when you see some of the bizarre and cool new weapons we have for you, coupled with our new specialized character class system, and those kickass tanks, you will see it is WELL worth the wait! Stay tuned! ;)

8/16/99 New Stuff (By MaxSMoke)
Holger has just updated our Pre-Alpha Tank package with some new stuff for the level designers to play with. The vehicles are getting closer everyday so it's getting pretty exciting over here! Download and replace the old Tank demo package with this new one, the file's the same name but you'll notice from it's size it's packed with some new items. There's also two new class specific weapons to look at, both of which will be changed quite a bit in the final release. Speaking of releases, we are still looking at a Beta5 Release by this Friday!

Also speaking of new releases, our pal Squacky has sent us another U4E version of his killer maps called Injector, so download a copy of that too! LiteningZ also sent us a new map called 3DFight that has to be seen to be believed! So get the maps, try out the Pre-Alpha demo, and stay tuned! More stuff is soon on the way! ;)

8/13/99 Pre-Alpha Tank Demo (By MaxSMoke)
Before I go ANY further, I want you all to know that this is a PRE-ALPHA, VERY Simple, Only for Testing, Demo package! All of the things you won't like about this package are going to be changes. All of the things you do like will be kept. This package is only for Level Builders so that they can get a feel for our tanks and aircraft. This is NOT representative of the Beta5 vehicles release planned for next Friday.

Having said that I can now say that Holger has just sent me a Tank preview package. It contains one tank model in two types, and one aircraft unit. You can jump into these, drive or fly around, and blast the holly heck out of anything you run into. Everything will be changed and bugs are still being ironed out, but if your an interested U4E Level maker and want to do some tank area's and air craft levels, then please check this out. It's available now in Download Section.

8/8/99 PlanetUnreal Server Woo #2 (By MaxSMoke)
It appears that the Walnut Creek Archives directory of our files is now working. Also the SuNet and SunSite servers are also working now. But most all of the other links are still not working. When you download make sure to do so from either of those two or you will not be able to download any of our files. There was no reason given for this from any of the PlanetUnreal people I spoke to, they basically said, "That's all there is, live with it". Oh the joys of being hosting on a corporate conglomerate! :P I'll try to do what I can to help get around these problems. But PLEASE; Use the Walnut Creek or Sun Archives before E-mailing me about your download woos. Thank you!

8/7/99 Beta5 is Coming Soon! (By Max SMoke)
No, it's not  typo and your not dreaming! <hehe> Holger is back in the house and our code-slinging guru is kicking some serious ass! Already we have fixed all of the animation problems that have been bugging U4E, added two new characters, and added in all of Martin's great new skins. Also the Tank is getting closer to releaseablity, so you should be seeing the Tank Preview release soon! This will let you test drive a single tank in a demo map, so that level designers can start making U4E-Tank Ready levels. Non-level makers will also have something to wet their appetite in anticipation of Beta5's release.

Much to my dismay, PlanetUnreal servers appear to be down yet again. Nobody can download U4E from our download page and the Beta4 package appears to no longer exist on any of the 20 so GameSpy mirrors. To help people get their hands on Beta4 until this problem is repaired I have placed a copy directly on this website. With Holger still on vacation until next week, this does kinda amount to little more then eye candy, but just to make sure our fans get their U4E fix for this week I have assembled a Beta5 model preview to show off some of the new stuff I have modeled for our next release. This preview also shows off a wealth of great skins Martin has made for us. Enjoy!

On an additional note, Nali City has just posted the first Single player level based on Unreal4Ever I have ever seen. Skaarjs with QSG's make for some VERY strategic game play in this little level. The level's called Skaarj HomeWorld, check it out! (BTW, if anyone finds the exit to level two let me know, I just keep dying in the crusher trap!)

7/21/99 Fixed the Download bug!  (By MaxSMoke)
It seems that Planet Unreal is still in the clutches of a host of network problems. The upload directory for new files for one still isn't working and the downloads have all bern shifted to another mirror directory. This shift of files though came without my knowledge and a few of you found that you couldn't download anything from our web site. Well that problem's been fixed! To make a long story short I was informed of the new directory all of our files were stored in and immediately updated all of our file links. So now you should be able to download anything off our site without the slightest problem, at least for now.... Cross your fingers! :)

7/15/99 We have... a PLOT!  (By MaxSMoke)
Although not really important to most games, especially one as blood thirsty as U4E (HEHE), I have added a plot that gives you a reasonable excuse to claim U4E is something more then just the mindless fun it was meant to be! ;) Check out the "U4E Info" page for all of the dirt on our new plot. Hopefully this might inspire some single player map makers to add some U4E to their next maps! Cross your fingers!

7/12/99 Umod vs Win98  (By MaxSMoke)
It seems that some new comers to Unreal4ever have been having installation problems with our Umod formatted mod. It seems that there's something about upgrading to Windows 98 that causes Umod to refuse to install to the Unreal directory. We don't know what the cause it but a simple solution has been found. Reinstall Unreal and the 224 or 225 patch. You have to completely reinstall Unreal or Umod will refuse to function and you will not be able to install our mod. Our thanks to Spry for finding a solution to this enigma.

On a happier note, I have just updated the Beta5 Character Preview to include the finished skin for the Grim Reaper, a skin done by our resident skinning GENIUS Martin Davis. Please check it out, the model look better then Ever!

Here's some more eye candy to marvel at well we're hard at work on the Beta5 package. The Tank Preview I have prepared shows the alpha version of the Medium tank we're working on. Once it's bugs are ironed out, it will be a simple matter to add several more tanks and then, hopefully, the Air Borne units.

To give you all something to salivate over well we're hard at work on Beta5, I have put together A Beta5 Character Preview of the 3 characters classes that will defiantly be our next release. As you can see from the Thug image, our resident skinning wonder, Martin Davis, is hard at work making our model's pixels shine! So far we have three new weapons that are also in the late stages of development and, of course, the best part: VEHICLES! The Medium Tank and Helicopter model are all done. I will post some screenshots as soon as they are up and operational. Just as soon as we have something for you to drive around in, we will make the release, so stay tuned! :)

Update: I just added an animation from the finished Alein model. Screenshots should be soon to follow, so check it out!
A Beta5 Character Preview

Our buddy Squacky has sent us to new U4E levels for Beta4. The Dropzone is one of the best looking levels I've played yet and the Titan in Titania is just too much fun, so you should definitely pick up these puppies right now! Also our friend, Luke Scammell, has give me some great tips on how to fix up the page. As you will notice, the bottom scroll bar is gone! And we even have the correct (c) symbol for once! :) I also revised the "U4E Info" section to include some great new art and animated gifs I've made from the mod so check it out. Also for fun, check out this new Java U4E logo!

I have been testing some other Beta4 levels for people, so expect some more butt kicking levels very soon! And for those of you who want to take your U4E adventures on-line, I have received word that there are several new Internet U4E servers starting up, so keep an eye open for those!

6/18/99 Beta4 Released!  (By MaxSMoke)
Beta4 of Unreal4Ever marks a dramatic change in our mod. No longer is Beta4 simply the domain of off-line Unreal players, now U4E does networks! We have updated just about every section of the mod to make it run smoother, fastest, and more bug free on-line then ever before. We will continue to make internet from now on our top priority so that all our fans can enjoying killing each other as much as they have enjoyed killing bots and monsters in the past. Get it from the download page right now! :)

In addition to the network problems we have repaired, we have also added in all of the characters from the character patch as well as a totally new player model, to make a new sum total of 5 new player classes in U4E. In the future these classes will multiple and also gain their own special powers, to make the game even better then before. We will also be adding new gametypes like CTF to the mix. All of this will lead up to our most impressive feat ever, the Unreal4Ever CTF Tank game! Please report any network problems you have so that we can bring the game up to speed as soon as possible and most of all, ENJOY THE MOD! 

6/2/99 U4E Character Patch  (By MaxSMoke)
Before I mention any more about this I would like everyone to know that this is for testing purposes only. These may or may not work on-line in network games and are best used now for bot's in botmatchs. This is not U4E Beta4, which will include all of our released patches, more characters, and alot more weapons!

This patch contains 3 new classes as well as an upgrade to the existing Fred class. The new class's are: Henry the Mech, MrBig (A mini-player version of our planned New Titan), and Boris the Teddybear. You read that right, a Teddy Bear. I have tested them in botmatchs and they seem to work great. MrBig is a little rough (He was designed to be MUCH larger) but even he still works. You can download this patch from our Download Section right now.If you try these on-line and have anything to report, please E-Mail me as soon as you can, thank you!

6/1/99 U4E Does Networks!  (By MaxSMoke)
U4E now has a new gametype for your deathmatch menu that will allow you to play U4E on-line! What this gametype does is it selects the more network friendly weapons out of our mod and added them to any normal DM map. DO NOT USE THIS GAMETYPE WITH OUR U4E LEVELS!!!! This patch is only for use with normal DM maps, replacing their weapons with ours. Also, we still don't have the problems worked out on the new character class's, SO DON'T PLAY ON-LINE AS FRED!!! We will be ironing out all of these on-line problems soon, in the mean time you can enjoy at least some of our work. Download the patch in the "Download U4E" section.

Our friend Squacky from PlanetUnreal recently posted that we have made a version of Beta2 that is 224 compatable. This confusion may be my fault for not being clear in my last post:

BETA2 IS NOT 224 COMPATABLE! BETA3 WILL BE!

Well we have fixed our latest internal version of U4E, that version will not be released until our next public Beta release. Fear not though! Beta3 of our mod will be released early next week and in it you will find not only 224 compatablity, but more weapons, monsters, and toyz then you can shake a dead Nali at! Stay tuned! ;)

As of May 11th, 1999, Unreal4Ever is Officially 224 compatible! Not only has Holger masterfully handled the conversion process, but U4E is actually running smoother then it did before! With our upcoming Beta3 release in less then a week you can expect to be in for a  real treat. I don't want to give anything away, but you will see more in the next beta of our mod then you've seen in ANY COMMERCIAL GAME TO DATE!  Time to stock up on Adult diapers, you just might soil your chair!

5/2/99 Wait on 224?  (By MaxSMoke)
As you all know, the 224 patch for Unreal was released yesterday. Unfortunately it appears that it makes ALL mods non-functional until their creators upgrade. This means that by installing it you will loose all of you mods for a short while, and some will never work again. Unlike the 220 patch, which still allowed some mods to work, 224 allows NO PAST MODS TO FUNCTION.

For all of our fans, we ask you to hold off upgrading to this latest version of Unreal until we have fully upgraded our mod to 224 compatibility. This might take a week or two, but the only thing you'll be missing out on is a new shield belt and a server menu system, it's not a big loss for now. For those of you that can't wait, you can expect to regain your weapons in the next release, Beta3 of Unreal4Ever.

As part of our entry into the Unreal Contest, and the fact that our old site sucks, I have taken it opon myself to give the offical U4E website a sizeable overhaul. Being the lead artist of U4E I think I've done a pretty spiffy job but feel free to comment on our new look. It should work in well on all web broswers. I'd like to thank my friend Tag from UBall for his help in understanding the Java code.

If you haven't already, it's time to start downloading some of the awesome new levels people have been sending in for Unreal4Ever! We have new levels from Squacky of PlanetUnreal and Satanas that can even give Epic's deathmatch levels a run for their money! These levels are fast paced and all have working bot support so you deathmatchs will never have a dull moment. And because they were made with Unreal4Ever in mind you can expect them to take advantage all all the extras our Beta2 release has to offer. So GET DOWNLOADING! These levels will take your U4E experience to a "New Level". <hehe, couldn't help the pun!> ;)

Getting tired of the same four weapons in your U4E-Ready levels? Of course your not, but that doesn't mean you can't have more! I've just added newly updated versions of my own U4E-Ready levels that now contain most of Beta2's new weapons and devices for your killing pleasure. Alot of new level designers have expressed interest in adding U4E to both their recent, as well as upcoming, levels. Expect more levels soon to come!

Also we're still looking for someone to host a U4E server for us. If you have the necessary bandwidth and are experienced with Unreal server setup, please contact us as soon as you can, thank you!

Almost a dozen new weapons! All the old ones from Vigil99! New graphics, new chrome effects, tons of bug fixed, and basically more cool stuff then you can shake a dead Nali at! What can I say that can do this release justice? GO GET IT NOW!!!! It's in the Files Section! If you thought version 1 was cool, you ain't see NOTHING yet!

3/28/99 Phasor Trouble? (By MaxSMoke)
My bud Holger made a tiny little mistake on the readme file that comes with our first beta. The command for summoning the Phasor is "Summon u4e.phasor", not "Summon u4e.bfg20k". It's a simple error and most of you figured it out pretty quickly. This is just to inform the people that weren't quite so clever. The new beta is due early this week so the error will get fixed then!

3/27/99 Beta2 is coming soon! (By MaxSMoke)
Keeping up with the break neck pace we promised we are proud to say that U4E will have it's second beta release within the coming week. In that release you can expect at least 5 new weapons and items, doubling our first beta within just two weeks! As we said before, our goal is expand Unreal further then anyone has ever tried before and we are certainly off to an incredible start! In addition we are also working with others to develop some of the first Unreal4Ever-Ready levels so that you can take the U4E fun on-line and kill new and exciting people in new and exciting ways! Any interested level builders should contact us as soon as possible about setting up their level for U4E. Info on the new weapons are in the gallery section, Enjoy!

3/19/99 We Need your HELP! (By MaxSMoke)
Neither Holger nor myself have had access to an Internet server to test U4E (Unreal4Ever) on so the beta we released 6 days ago isn't exactly Internet ready. If someone can help us set up a server for testing purposes that's available 24 hours a day, then we'll get right on fixing those bugs up and keeping all future internet bugs out of U4E forever! If you download a copy of Unreal4Ever just be aware that well it works perfectly in Botmatchs and the normal game in Unreal 2.20 for the PC, but thus far I've heard that only the Shrinker works without problems on-line for now. But we WILL fix the problems soon! If you have tested U4E on-line, please forward a complete bug list to me and I will pass it on to Holger immediately. We're sorry for the inconvenience and we thank you for your support!

3/13/99 Made a page for U4E! (By MaxSMoke)
Holger just got done wrapping up the most complete weapons of the package into a beta I can share with others. The art and modeling is completed on the 4 weapons in this package but the code is still a little skiddish. Well these weapons are close to prefect, there are a few things that will be ironed out soon so if you have problems with this then don't worry about it too much. I'm sure you'll be very impressed with what we have now! ;)

The latest package contains 3 weapons from Vigil99, lovingly remodeled and animated by yours truly, as well as one completely new weapon we thought up well talking to one an other. This new weapon is an Upgradeable Laser, or Phasor as it's called in the game. As you pick up additional copies of it in a deathmatch the laser's power increases and the model changes to reflect this increase. The laser has 5 power levels, but so far only 3 have been modeled. (I just can't figure out any more cool ways to warp the existing model!) Each power level has a corresponding beam color and model skin change to identify it. The Alt-Fire allows you to adjust the laser's power setting as the laser grows in power, allowing you to exchange ammo demand with beam power so you can tailor the laser to your situations needs. In addition, ANY discarded laser will automatically go into security mode, EXPLODING if anyone else but you attempts to pick it up! Want to kill a greed advisory? Just toss him your laser! In addition, %90 of the time, a laser kill with strip the flesh from the bones of an opponent, leaving a blood skeleton behind! It's the kind of gory you can not ignore!

The other weapons that come from the Vigil99 package are the Freezer, Shrinker, and BFG 20,000. These have all been redone for a multiplayer environment and suffer from none of the problems of the older weapons. Right now the laser is the only weapon that has some occasional problems, the main one being that any weapon tossed well holding a laser will automatically become booby trapped. This will be fixed soon, so in the mean time, just consider is a "Special Feature"! <hehe>
