Description of the Modification ------------------------------- This adds a modified Qtest dragon to Quake. The dragon can appear as a formidable opponent or as a powerful ally. Below are some features: * More frames and skins were added to ID's Qtest dragon. The dragon in this patch contains 69 frames compared to the 18 frames in the dragon found in Qtest and the TLG patch. Included are dragon models of various sizes. * Five types of dragons are available. Each dragon has its unique attributes. All have powerful melee and missile capabilities. The types that are available are: + Red -- breathes fire + Green -- spits acid (like the scrags) + Blue -- shoots lightning + Gold -- like red, but more powerful. + Black -- ghost-like shadow; can create undead pawns. * The dragons have custom AI and it is variable. A dumb dragon will do things like shoot lightning while underwater or attack other dragons indiscriminately like the Quake grunts or Doom's former humans. A smarter dragon will do things like dodge projectiles or even look for water if burning. There are more actions that are dependent on intelligence. * For level designers, many attributes are adjustable. Among them are the dragon's type, size, health, intelligence, speed, and the ability to regenerate and/or respawn. * The dragons will almost never clip a wall like in other dragon patches; if it tries, it gets ejected from the obstacle. NEW in 2.0. * Added is a new powerup item that spawns a small dragon that will fight for the player. When you pick up a dragon, weapon 1 toggles between the axe and your dragon. NEW in 3.0! * Dragons have been added to existing Quake levels. Most of the additions are dragon powerup items that will provide extra help for the player. How to Install the Modification ------------------------------- * Create a subdirectory called RYU within the QUAKE directory. * Place the pak0.pak and the progs.dat from this archive into the RYU subdirectory. QUAKE | +--- ID1 | +--- RYU (new pak0.pak and progs.dat go here) * Change to the QUAKE directory and type the following (without the quotes) on the command line: 'Quake -game ryu'. A demo level called 'ryu' is available.
