About the Doom Editing list

The Doom Editing list is now located at gamers.org, and maintained by Steve Benner and Steve Heaslip. It serves as a channel to discuss advanced DOOM editing issues, and will cover advanced Quake editing as well. It is a Majordomo mailing list. You should look at the Majordomo description first.

The doom-editing list had been founded by Joost Schuur in 1993, at a time when there weren't any newsgroups available. It was originally hosted by nvg.unit.no and on site supported by Arnt Gulbrandsen. Later on, the list had been maintained by Tom Holt and, in 1995, by Steve Benner and me. In 1996, Steve Heaslip took over my share of maintenance. Like the Quake Developers mailing list I founded in early 1996, it is now at gamers.org, and on site administration is now done by Piotr Kapiszewski.

From the beginning, the list focused on advanced editing issues, that is, inventing new techniques and developing more sophisticated tools to tailor the game DOOM by id Software to whatever needs. Have a look at the posting guidelines as of 1995, and obtain the current ones from majordomo@gamers.org.
