How to contact me...
Before you email me with a question about Doom, please note the following:
- I know virtually zilch about PC hardware setup problems. I don't play
Doom on a PC (I use an SGI) and so will generally not be able to answer
questions about specific issues (eg. video card glitch, etc.),
- If you're having trouble running Doom, Doom II, etc., under Win95, the only
solution I know of that'll help is to run the game under DOS. Don't even start
up Win95 when you boot up your PC. Doom is a DOS application. Win3.1, Win95,
etc. always cause problems, eg. hogging the sound card, messing up the mouse
configuration and especially making the game run much slower.
- If you're having trouble with modem configurations, make sure you've tried
out the instructions given in the modem help file first (see index page) before
emailing me. Even so, my most likely response would to suggest that you find
someone on the Doom newsgroups who has a similar setup to you and ask them what
settings they're using (assuming they have their setup working ok). In fact,
this applies to most hardware problems: find someone with a similar setup and
ask them how they got it working, ask them what they have in their autoexec.bat
and config.sys files, etc.
Basically, my knowledge about Doom is summed up by the files that are on the
DHS, but If you still want to email me, then send all comments, suggestions,
complaints, etc. to: mapleson@gamers.org
If you can't email, then use snail mail (ordinary post), phone or fax.
