"More banners than you can shake a stick at."
The addition of my (now obsolete) work email address to the DOOM FAQ resulted in quite a few mails throughout the following years, generally falling into two categories: requests for permission to use the big logo elsewhere, and requests for other ASCII images related to DOOM. My response to the former type had to be negative, but I usually proposed the applicant created his own ASCII image specific to his document/list/utility/whatever. Several of these exchanges then ended up in the latter category, with me creating a new DOOM-related logo or banner ;-)
One of the first was James Dicke, asking for a banner for his Deathmatch WAD Ranking list. I offered two, of which he chose the first:
D O O M ===== ===== ==== ====== == == _---_ === === ==== ====== ==== == == || \\ || || || || || || ." Jason Lynch worked on a DOOM II Modem Contacts list in Winter 1994/95, but as far as I know never released it. So the two samples I sent him weren't published:

During the Summer and Fall of 1994 I programmed DMPSMU, the DOOM PostScript Maps Utility, and naturally had to create my own banner for it :-)
______ _____ _____ __ ___ DMPSMU ___ __ ___ ______ ____ | __ \ | _ | | _ | | \ / | PostScript | \ / | / _ \ | ___ \ / __| | | \ | | | | | | | | | || \/ . | %% %% !! | . \/ || / /_\ \ | |_/ / { {_ | | / | | \_/ | | \_/ | ||\ /| | %% % !! | |\ /|| | _ | | __/ \__ \ | |/ / \ / \ / || \/ | | % %% !! | | \/ || | | | | | | __ \ \ | ' / \_/ \_/ \| | | %% %% !! | | |/ \_| |_/ \_| \ \_/ / |__/ \_| Utility. |_/ \___/ |
Slightly different again was the banner for Jan-Albert van Ree's DOOM Editing Guide, created in Spring 1996:
_______ _____ _____ __ ___ _____________ _____ _____ _____ _ _ ______ | ___ \ _ | _ | \ / | | ____| _ \_ _|_ _|_ _| \ | | ___ \ | | \ | | | | | | | . V . | | |__ | | | | | | | | | | | \| | | \/ | | / | \_/ | \_/ | |\ /| | | __| | | | | | | | | | | | . ` | | ___ | | / / \ / \ /| | V | | | | | |/ / _| |_ | | _| |_| |\ | | \ \ | `' / \_/ \_/ \_| | | | |____|___/ \___/ |_| \___/\_| \_| \__| | |___/ and DOOM II \_| \_____/ G U I D E \_____/ |
On a smaller scale, I made a logo for my RGCD FAQ, still posted weekly to the rec.games.computer.doom.* newsgroups since December 1994, which was derived from an earlier logo by Jeremy Radwan created for John Van Essen's old Mini-FAQ that was posted in 1994 to alt.games.doom, comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action. Here they are back to back for comparison:
______ ______ ______ ____ ___ \ _ \ / __ \ / __ \ \ \/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |\/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |/ / \ \/ / \ \/ / \ | | | | / \ / \ / \| | | | / \__/ \__/ | | | / \ | |/ Mini-FAQ \| |

Finally, drifting into Quake territory :-), I was quite eager to manually create a big ASCII logo for it once it was released, but because of its curvy nature that turned out unfeasible. Instead, I relied on technology and took a version of the Quake logo (quakelo.jpg from the qgraphcs.zip collection that existed on id's ftp server for some time - local copy), converted it to monochrome .gif, reduced it to 25% and converted it to ASCII using gifscii. The result looked quite ragged, but was used in July 1996 in Tom Wheeley's Quake Mini-FAQ nonetheless. It was later manually touched up by Kyle Hofmann and used in Toby Goldstone's Quake FAQ, and that's the version I'd like to include here:
.d' 'b. d' `b .$' `$. . dF 9b 9$ $F $. 9F .P 9F `$ $L J$ $$ $$ d`$. $$ .dP $$ Y$ $P $$ $$ d' $$. $$*'Y$b. $$* `$b 9$F d$' $$ $$ d' `"$$. $$ `$b $$ `$b. 8$8 .d$' Y$. .$P d' $$. $$ $ "$ .:$ "$$@@$@@$$" `'" "'` ' `"'`"' `"Y$P"' I$I `$' $ * |
Of course, there are more cool DOOM ASCII logos and banners out there, but I'd just like to mention the big DEU5 logo here, and you'll have to hunt down the others yourself if so inclined.
